They always say, when it rains on your wedding day, it’s the luckiest of days. Well, for Emily and Joe’s wedding, theirs was the luckiest of all! The day started out mild! Humid and cloudy; we knew something was brewing but we went on to get Emily into her gorgeous gown. The Maylon house is a favorite for getting ready portraits. The light powder pink room is a beautiful feminine touch as the background for the bridal portraits. The ample natural light is also a pleasing feature! Emily was surrounded by friends and family in her dressing room while Joe was getting ready with the help of his brother. The two decided on seeing each other before the wedding. We chose the beautiful front lawn of this stately historic home to photograph this first meeting. From the moment Joe saw Emily you could just feel the love between them! Soft, tender touches and warm embraces were shared and it photographed well. We moved the couple to the front porch area with the beautiful columns and iron railing. On the side lawn, an old well created a nice background for additional portraits! We met up with the bridal party in front of the outdoor ceremony space. A beautiful gazebo with convenient pavers were the perfect set for an outdoor wedding! Especially for those in heels! The bridesmaids wore a beautiful summer purple with the groomsmen in the classic gray tux. There were lots of laughs with this bunch which made it extra special for their portraits!
Then came the rain! The heavens opened up and it poured. Right before the ceremony we waited for the rain to settle down then the task at hand was drying off all the seats for the ceremony to begin! But during the ceremony not a drop of rain and it was such a beautiful, intimate wedding. The couple chose to share communion with each other followed by their first kiss as husband and wife! Now, onto the Reception! The home has a beautifully decorated reception hall just adjacent to the ceremony space. With beautiful chandeliers there wasn’t much need for extra decor! Emily and Joe chose accents of gold and purple to finish off the look of the wedding. They shared first dances and then danced the night away! It was the perfect evening! Enjoy!
